What is personal finance? Wikipedia defines it as follows :

"Personal finance is the application of the principles of financial economics to an individual's (or a family's) financial decisions. It asks, "How much money will you need at various points in the future?" and "How do you go about getting that money?". It deals with questions like: * What is my annual income?* How can I increase my income?* What are my annual expenses?* How can I reduce my expenses?* How do I best budget my available income each year?* How much money can I save each year?"

These are important questions that everyone should answer, but they aren't the only ones. Investing for retirement is also an important issue to keep in mind when the subject of your financial management comes up. It may be the most important, but it isn't the only thing you should be concerned about either. And that's where forpersonalfinance.com comes in. My goal is to put together a wide variety of articles on personal finance subjects to help you become more informed about your financial health. As the saying goes, "An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure". 

Maybe you have money to invest, but you know less about the subject than what is covered in the "Investing for Dummies" book. Perhaps you're asking yourself, "Should I be investing in gold, or should I be investing in bonds"? I won't be giving you investment advice, but I will give you information that I hope will help you to make well-informed decisions on these subjects yourself.

Maybe you're already going down the wrong path, and find yourself struggling with a bad credit history. I'll discuss bankruptcy alternatives, and tell you about consumer credit counseling. These folks are there to help folks who are struggling with debt to get out of debt.

Maybe your bad credit history isn't your fault at all. Identity theft is often the cause, and many folks don't even realize it's happening to them.
